Movie review: The Umbrella Academy

"The Umbrella Academy" lays somewhere between superhero action and a comedian apocalypse story.  Extraordinary characters with a hell of a story behind them and shockingly talented soundtracks make this Netflix show really fascinating.

A story based on 43 children, who were born suddenly to women all over the world who weren't pregnant the day before. Therefore, a psycho-billionaire decides to buy them, because he's pretty sure that those kids have some kind of supernatural powers. Needless to say, he couldn't be more right.

Eccentric billionaire - Sir Reginald Hargreeves ended up with seven extraordinary children. As one of the characters once said: "My name is Number 2. He didn't even bother to give us names". All of the orphans, except one - Vanya from Russia (who is extremely talented violin-player and a writer), have superpowers. Powers like talking with the dead, extreme strength, talent with knives, changing reality by speaking "rumors" out loud, ability to travel in time and space. Who wouldn't be glad to have even one of these powers?

Well, children used to be treated as lab mice. They were under a lot of pressure, had no parental care or love, they basically were treated as superhumans, though they obviously had feelings as we all do... Seven super-people grew apart, one of them died, and, eventually, they met on dad's funeral. That's where comedy begins. Even though all of them were pretty busy with making fun of each other, a time-traveler cracked news - the World ends in eight days and he has no idea how to stop it. Here's a turn. What would those six do? That's how this story hooked people up.
